Why Wicked Works

This May I went to go see the new musical Wicked. And did it live up to the hype...? Is the Pope Catholic? I've been thinking and here are a couple of reasons why I think this musical appeals to so many.

And there you have it. It's not the best list ever but it was on my mind. Feel free to add your reasons why you love or hate this musical.

Comments:
All I know is I love the song...
popular, I'll help you be pop-youuu-ler! sweet

I like your links. Nice work.

I agree with the points listed. I think it also helps to give your main character unique skin tones.

The Smurfs
The Blue Man Group

and, of course, Twilight

How fun, that looks really good! I wonder if they'll ever come to Salt Lake.

I love the links as well--what did you think of the Heroes season finale?

The word 'awesomeness' comes to mind. Although I guess that really isn't a word. I really liked the Nathan Petrelli turn-around, but I was kind of ready for Silar to be over and done with. Hiro as always is the coolest.

Oh and I forgot to say that Wicked IS coming to Salt Lake next year! woot woot!

Really? I thought the finale was lame!!! Silar didn't even die! He crawled off to the sewer. And why coudln't Claire just shoot Peter so that he wouldn't blow up--he could regenerate. And Peter absorbed Nathan's flying power, why couldn't he fly up by himself to blow up?? Why did Nathan have to go? Ugh, it just disappointed me. Too many holes.

I've never seen the musical Wicked, but I recall a performance on Jay Leno from a scene of that play. (I think... like 3 years ago). It looked pretty cool.
Thanks for posting once again, Michelle! It's been AGES!!!

Amb- We've talked about this a lot, and I've decided that Peter was not in control of any of his powers which is why he couldn't just fly off. Because if he could control his powers why wouldn't he just choose not to blow up.

And I thought the gun got thrown by Silar's mind powers or something, didn't it? But I totally agree with you that he should have died.

The REAL question is: Why didn't Nathan just take him up in the sky and then throw him and get away?

Maybe Nathan did get away. And turned into an evil monster to combat for the next season.

Oh, I must introduce myself. I'm Nedge, a friend of Doyle, or Brittany...

As to Wicked, I've always wanted to see it. I have the sound track, and found the script on the internet...and I find it pleasantly different and amusing. If I had to say one thing I didn't like about Wicked was that the book itself was awful. A very big political statement. I'm just glad the musical didn't follow it exactly. Otherwise, it'd be in trouble...

And I loved Heroes. Though I agree with Ambular...there were a couple of holes. I guess they always do that to throw you off yer feet in the first episode of the next season...

Sorry for the long post from someone you probably don't know! (I watched you play basketball once!...)

Oh I'll agree with the fact that Peter probably was not in control of his powers and therefore may not have been able to regnerate and/or fly, but it still left something to be desired. I just felt that since Molly AKA the tracking system said that someone scared her more than Sylar, then they should've killed him off and introduced us into the scarier villain.
It is possible that Nathan did survive, we'll have to wait until next season to find out! Blast!

Oh and where are they going with the Hiro plot?

Nedge- Yeah I've heard the book was not so great from many people. Good thing those musical guys know how to create a family friendly production.

Amb- The Hiro plot was kind of crazy, but you know he's going to flip out and be way excited about where he is though. They've got to get him some experience with his sword or something. But I will probably love it no matter what his story line is, mostly becasue I just love Hiro. -Unless he is the 'alternate future Hiro' that is also a terrorist.

Ran into a couple of your roomies at the Union today. That was fun...

I think it's time for another post!

You should join me in my new year's resolution to blog weekly. I think this would be a great use of our valuable time.

Ah Dave, it seems like we've been over this ground before.
